The Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study (YES) Program was established in October, 2002 to provide scholarships for high school students (15-17 years) to spend up to one academic year in the U.S. The program is vital to expanding communication between the people of the United States and its partner countries in the program in order to promote mutual understanding and respect. Students live with a host family, attend a U.S. high school, engage in activities to learn about American society and values, acquire leadership skills, and help educate Americans about their countries and cultures.
How to Apply...
Students who fulfill the Eligibility Criteria and agree to the Parent Student Agreement and General Program Rules can apply for the YES Program scholarship by submitting a pre-application form to the iEARN-Israel office.
After the initial application evaluation, short listed candidates are invited to take the Secondary Level English Proficiency (SLEP®) test. The SLEP test measures nonnative speakers' listening and reading comprehension abilities. Students who scored 50+ on the SLEP test (equivalent to 480 or higher on the Institutional Testing Program--“Institutional TOEFL” exam) will be asked to complete and submit the full 24 page YES application. All application reviews are followed by an in-person interview. Selected students will be notified by the iEARN-Isreal office and are mandated to attend the ‘Pre Departure Orientation’ program during summer vacations prior to traveling to USA.
For further information regarding the application process please review the iEARN-Isreal website and or contact the iEARN-Isreal office.
