YES Program Volunteers Recognized for Service Achievements
Several regions hosting Sponsored Programs students, including YES, were recognized for exceptional team achievement with the Outstanding Area Team Award. The teams are: Massachusetts Bay, One World (WI), Kansas City, Missouri Gateway, Pacific Cascades (OR), Silver and Gold (CA) and the Carolinas.
Northern Illinois volunteer Robbin Lang, coordinator for a group of YES and FLEX Program students, was one of several volunteers to receive The Outstanding Hosting Volunteer Award. The award honors those volunteers who consistently provide service that is considered above and beyond in the area of hosting, specifically focusing on the attributes of quality, timeliness and cooperation.
A select group of new volunteers, including metro New York area volunteer Naomi Erickson, was awarded the honor of Outstanding Hosting Rookies of the Year for skills and talents demonstrated in support of hosting.
Naomi Erickson is recognized for her dedication and hard work on the YES Program, for which she organizes regular enrichment activities such as intrastate hosting trips in New York. In the fall, she took her YES students to visit her fellow volunteers and hosted students in Western NY to experience the culture of Amish Country and visit one of the great natural wonders of the world, Niagara Falls. This spring she has invited the hosted students in Western NY to New York City to experience the endless cultural landmarks the city has to offer, including the Statue of Liberty.
