Alumni Share U.S. Experiences Through Eclectic Thanksgiving Feast

Kosova Yes Alumni Gathered At The Office For An Early Thanksgiving Celebration

By Rinë Fetahu (YES 2013-2014, Kosovo, hosted by American Councils PO in Baton Rouge, LA)

Thanksgiving is a time when YES alumni in Kosovo get together and talk about what they are thankful for, accompanied by a home-cooked meal and a tremendous amount of fun. This year was no different. Ten alumni gathered with American Councils staff for a Thanksgiving celebration held at the American Councils office in Prishtina on November 20 and brought their home-cooked dishes. They made Louisiana chicken gumbo, apple pie, chocolate cake, fried chicken, and many more. Everyone drew on their U.S. memories and picked a dish that reminded them of their exchange year, making the food a great conversation starter and an opportunity for alumni to learn more about each other’s experiences.

Going down memory lane made us all realize how thankful we are for our experiences and host families, even years after our return from the U.S. The event also reminded us how thankful we are for the amazing alumni community in Kosovo. We are eager to plan more gatherings and activities!
