Macedonia World Aids Day Picture

World AIDS Day, December 1, is  a day dedicated to raising awareness of the AIDS pandemic. This year, Blagoja Srbov (YES ’11, hosted by PAX in Kennewick, WA) held a presentation to inform our alumni community and YES Abroad students about this topic.

Blagoja, who recently graduated from medical school, spoke about what AIDS means, what the HIV virus is, how the virus spreads, how it can be treated, and, most importantly ways to prevent it. The presentation was very informative and helpful, because Blagoja shared many interesting facts that were previously unknown to the attendees, who hope to pass on the knowledge they gained. These facts included that regular treatment of AIDS significantly reduces one’s chances of infecting others, and that early symptoms are very similar to flu symptoms.
