Global Youth Service Day (GYSD) weekend (April 21-23, 2017) was widely celebrated throughout the YES alumni community around the globe. From book drives to medical camps, YES alumni fully engaged in acts of service, leaving their mark of change imprinted on the hearts of their communities. In Pakistan, 112 YES alumni carried out 90 GYSD projects across 18 cities, impacting more than 8,000 people.

In Peshawar, YES alumni completed a health awareness workshop to empower students to develop and maintain healthy lifestyles. On Earth Day, YES alumni from Charsadda demonstrated the importance of a clean and healthy environment by planting trees and learning about cultivation. Additionally, YES alumni in Rawalpindi organized a book drive to motivate students to read and to promote higher education. The organizers of the drive also facilitated storytelling sessions and provided information about the distributed books.

YES alumni also implemented projects related to female empowerment, sports, poverty, the inclusion of students with disabilities, character building, and much more.
