Aspect Foundation’s inbox is flooded with notes from students expressing their gratitude for the experience they have had on student exchange. On Thursdays, we post one of these notes, sharing the “warm fuzzies” with all of you!

Today’s Thank You Thursday flips the script! This thank you letter is actually from host mother Alexandra to her exchange daughter Nancy, from Lebanon. Nancy is studying with the Ferris family in Texas on a scholarship sponsored by the US Department of State’s Youth Exchange and Study (YES) Program. Read Alexandra’s thank you letter to Nancy below!

In a few words I would like to tell you how much I appreciate our exchange student Nancy. She is such a good addition to our family. Our seven year old daughter Lillian can be very hard to handle sometimes. She gets angry and she can be pretty mean. When Nancy got here, I realized after a few weeks how calm and nice she was all the time. Seriously, ALL the time! Lilly could be bossy, rude and mean and Nancy just stayed calm, caring and loving.

They have developed a bond of sisters. I really hoped the whole year that Lillian would learn from her and she has. I have also told Nancy how happy I am that she is such a good big sister and a role model for her. Nancy has also completed over 100 hours of community service and has shown Lillian that doing things to help others is a good thing. Nancy and Lillian helped to pick up trash from the neighborhood.

I am very thankful that Nancy could spend the year with us. I realized that not only do the exchange students learn from the host family but the family can learn from the exchange student. THANK YOU NANCY for being you!
