Congratulations to Shakirin Shahrul (YES 2013-14, Malaysia, hosted by ACES in Luck, Wisconsin) for receiving the prestigious Perdana Fellowship and praise from the Prime Minister of Malaysia! The Perdana Fellowship is a program established by the Malaysian Youth and Sports Ministry in 2013 to provide young Malaysians with first-hand experience in matters of national governance.
Shakirin, or Shak, was also featured in The Star newspaper:
"Two Perdana Fellows earned high praise from Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, who said they provided a great service to his office during their internship. The Prime Minister awarded Shakirin Shahrul Jamal and Lim Jay Yen tokens of his appreciation and posted photos on his social media accounts.
“Thank you to my fellows who have provided great service. I hope that you have gained valuable experience working in my office,” Najib posted on his Facebook page yesterday.
Shakirin, 21, was placed under the Nation Branding Division of the Prime Minister’s office for six weeks, focusing on the fields of policy and research, logistics and project management.
“My most memorable moment with the Prime Minister was during the policy paper presentation where I had the opportunity to talk on ‘Developing Rail Transportation in Sabah and Sarawak’,” Shakirin said.
He also participated in the SEA Games Torch Run, the groundbreaking ceremony of the East Coast Rail Link in Pahang, recording of Najib’s Negaraku Merdeka dialogue, and the closing ceremony of the SEA Games.
Shakirin said he was considering joining the Malaysian Administrative and Diplomatic Service or a global consulting company."
