Maryame has taken the lessons learned from her exchange year to make a difference in her community.
YES alumni are known for their commitment to community service, and in Kuwait last week, this meant a whole lot of fun for sick children and their families.
On April 27, approximately 30 YES alumni in Kuwait hosted a huge party to bring some joy to the NBK Children’s Hospital. And joyful it was. The event included a wide variety of games for the children and their parents, plus giveaways, face painting, and much more.

It was no small task. These YES alumni worked together for more than a month to prepare, and reached out to dozens of organizations and companies for sponsorship. They managed to get nine large companies (Zain Telecommunications Company, Al-Qabas Newspaper, Fantasy Group Company, Mais Al-Ghanim, City Star, Fantasy World, Marafi Studio Co., The Castle for Gifts, and Creative Q8JDM Photos) to participate by providing invitation cards, gifts, catering, balloons, decorations, and live cartoon characters

At the end of the event, local YES staff from AMIDEAST, Rasha Zalzala, and the YES Alumni Association President, Hasan Arab, thanked the hospital administration and its staff for their cooperation and thanked all the sponsors of the event.
