IEW has been a very unique experience for me and for the people in my community. I gave about 20 presentations at different places and had a wonderful experience. I was the first YES student at my school and IEW hadn't been celebrated in my school before. So the AFS club members, friends, teachers and I charted out a plan to celebrate the week.

Along with powerpoint presentations, we planned various activities for the week. We made posters with peaceful quotes to hang around the school, some of which had quotes by international leaders.

During the week, on a day we decided to wear white to promote peace and made small cards which said ‘Peace’ in different languages and we handed out the cards to people at school.

We made a big poster where the students at my school listed their country of origin so we could all see and embrace the diversity.

My friends and I wore our traditional clothes and set out a table in our school’s cafeteria and displayed all the things I brought from my country. We also played international music during the time between classes. It was a memorable week!
