On March 6, 2017, I helped the American Corner in Banja Luka conduct a workshop in preparation for International Women's Day. During the workshop, participants made gifts for female cancer patients who are currently in the hospital. More than 30 people participated in the workshop, including the Corner's regular patrons and students of all ages. Together we made around 35 bracelets and many cards, as well as decorative bags for the cards and bracelets. It was such a pleasure to see so many people coming in and volunteering! Everyone worked hard to make quality gifts and to spread positivity.
The gifts were delivered by representatives from the NGO Mozaik Prijateljstva (Mosaic of Friendship) on March 8, International Women's Day. These representatives reported that the recipients were pleasantly surprised and grateful for the gifts, as well as the thought and effort behind them.
This experience has taught me a lot, and has shown me how a community can come together to do amazing things. I was so inspired by each person who took part in that day, as well as by the people who inspired them: those women who are true and unforgotten fighters! No people should ever be forgotten on such an international day, and we showed them that they aren’t!
