Hellooooo! This is Yagmur Kan from Istanbul, Turkey. I have been a YES exchange student in Arcata on scholarship for a year. I’m glad that I’ve been on exchange. There were so many “strange” things that I liked doing here such as going to Costco ☺. I spent some time in Los Bagels, Fiesta Restaurant, the Plaza, and HealthSport.
I’ve found my passion for cooking and baking through this year. I am so excited to share all the different international recipes with my family back in Turkey. There’s only one Mexican restaurant in Istanbul, a city of 11 million (meaning the third biggest city in Europe!).
I’m so thankful for my host family because if cooking once a week was not a part of the household chores that I had to participate in, I wouldn’t have decided to become a chef. So maybe you can help a student from somewhere in the world to find his/her passion too!
