10,000 Trees For Jordan

He And Mayor

The U.S. Ambassador to Jordan and the Mayor of Amman, Jordan give a pep-talk to YES alumni before planting trees!

The U.S. Ambassador to Jordan, H.E. Alice Wells, and the Mayor of Amman, H.E. Aqel Biltaji, joined around 200 enthusiastic youth volunteers and YES alumni to implement the 2nd phase of the “10,000 Trees for Jordan” campaign! The campaign was launched by alumni in 2013, in celebration of the 10th anniversary of the YES program.

The eco-friendly project involved YES alumni and their families and friends, as well as a number of other U.S. Department of State-funded alumni. Meanwhile, students from the English Access Micro-scholarship Program were on hand to assist, along with staff from the U.S. Embassy, AMIDEAST Jordan, and members of the local community.

The “10,000 Trees for Jordan” campaign is supported by the U.S. Embassy in Amman, the Greater Amman Municipality, and the Ministry of Agriculture. The alumni are very pleased with the great success of this enviromentally friendly service, and appreciate the ongoing support from all involved!
