The U.S. State Department is pleased to announce the 2023 Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study (YES) Alumni Grants opportunity. The grants are funded by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) and administered by American Councils for International Education. The grants are available to YES and YES Abroad alumni to enable alumni to contribute to their communities through projects in areas such as:

• Conflict Resolution
• Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
• English Language and American Culture
• Entrepreneurship
• Environment
• Interfaith Dialogue
• Media Literacy
• Public Health
• Women’s and Girls’ Empowerment
• UN Sustainable Development Goals

Grants fall into two categories:

Group Grants (Up To $3,000): To support group projects in any of the above categories or other projects that alumni demonstrate will make a positive contribution in their community. Not all project team members must be alumni, but the grant recipient and at least one other project team member must be an alumnus/a of the YES or YES Abroad programs.

Individual Grants (Up To $250): Grants to support 1) projects organized by an individual alumnus/a or 2) to support a professional development opportunity. Alumni applying for funding for professional development must demonstrate in their proposals a readiness to share their experience with others in their community and/or use the knowledge and skills learned to benefit their community upon completion of their professional development activity.

Grant projects may begin after July 1, 2023 and must be completed by February 28, 2024.
