Çisem Kaço from Türkiye is the YES Student of the Month
On December 19th, the YES community in Jordan came together for a heartwarming Secret Santa event. The gathering brought together four current YES Abroad students, 32 YES alumni, and 13 non-YES alumni, creating a vibrant mix of individuals from different years and backgrounds. At the event YES participants reconnected and fostered new connections, as many alumni had never met before despite sharing the same global experience.
The evening was filled with laughter, camaraderie, and holiday cheer. Everyone had fun, enjoyed delicious food, and exchanged thoughtful gifts. However, the heart of the gathering wasn’t in the presents but in the meaningful conversations about the lasting impact of the YES program. The alumni spoke of how the friendships and experiences they've gained through YES continue to shape their lives and influence the communities they serve.
Inspired by the joy and warmth of American holiday traditions, this year's celebration in Jordan was all about creating new memories. The event kicked off with a Secret Santa gift exchange, with participants carefully selecting thoughtful gifts within a modest budget of 5 JOD (under 7 USD). Each gift represented more than just a physical token—it was a symbol of appreciation and a reminder of the bond shared by the YES community.
The evening also featured great food, music, and festive spirit. The group enjoyed a spread of sandwiches, shawarma, donuts, and hot seasonal drinks, while the air was filled with the sounds of Christmas music. Friends and family of the YES participants joined in, adding to the festive atmosphere.
For the YES alumni and students, it was a reminder of the strong, lasting connections they’ve built through the program and how they continue to support each other, no matter the distance or time that has passed. It was more than just a holiday party—it was a celebration of community, growth, and the lasting impact of the YES program in Jordan.
