We are pleased to announce Mohammad Al Ghadban, who goes by Moe, as April’s YES Student of the Month.  Moe is placed by PAX in Nineveh, Indiana, where he attends Indian Creek High School.

Moe is an inspirational student-leader who has made the most of his experience as a YES student by sharing his culture, country, and religion while fully engaging in his host community. When walking through the hallways at Indian Creek High School, you can see Moe’s impact and may even find him after school with one of the many clubs he has joined. He has started the International Club, joined and become a key member of many clubs, been inducted into the National Honor Society for academic excellence, and has already completed 105 volunteer hours.  During International Education Week, Moe taught the Arabic alphabet and traditional Lebanese dances to his classmates, sharing cultures and laughs.

Moe With Champions Together

After school, you can often find Moe assisting middle and high school students with disabilities through a program called Champions Together. The students and staff have grown fond of Moe and see him as a role model and important part of their success. Just this spring Moe spent a Saturday plunging into freezing water with others to raise money for the students and Champions Together program. Being a part of Champions Together, has inspired Moe to has consider how he could make an impact in Lebanon working to protect human rights. When he’s not at Champions Together, at Spanish club, working on physics homework, or solving problems with the Math Academic Team, you can find Moe with his host family, who endearingly call him the son and brother they never had.

With Global Youth Service Day coming up, we can’t wait to see what our April Student of the Month, Moe, has planned with his friends from Champions Together, because we know it will be great!

Congratulations, Moe!
