EducationUSA in Jordan

Jordan Ed Usa

The Jordanian YES 2021 - 2022 students learned a lot about the American education system, and it gave them a desire to find out more about continuing education opportunities in the US. Amideast/Jordan and EducationUSA are working together to help this newest cohort of YES alumni explore their options.

EducationUSA is a US Department of State network of over 430 international student advising centers in more than 175 countries and territories. The network promotes US higher education to students around the world by offering accurate, comprehensive, and current information about opportunities to study at accredited postsecondary institutions in the US. EducationUSA also provides services to the US higher education community to help institutional leaders meet their recruitment and campus internationalization goals.

On August 17, an EducationUSA advisor met with 12 YES ‘22 alumni for an info session focusing on the realities of applying to colleges in the US. The alumni were very interested! They enjoyed their year on YES and want to return and continue their education in the US.

The advisor explained the types of US institutions, how to apply, financing their education, documentation needed, and the timeline which they will need to abide by. Alumni asked questions so they have the information they need to start the application process. The advisor also discussed specific differences between the Jordanian and American education systems and led a detailed discussion about various possible majors students can study while at school in the US.
