Alumni smile with residents of the Sidi Thabet Center in Tunis.
In celebration of the Eid holiday during Ramadan, ten alumni visited the young residents at the Sidi Thabet Center for the disabled. Alumni organized an animation day with a clown and DJ and provided entertainment for over forty people. The alumni, nurses, parents, and center residents all mingled, danced and sang fun songs. Neither disability nor age was a boundary, as everyone celebrated like one happy family.
Afterwards, residents enjoyed sweet and salty pastries, and at the end of the event, participants received simple gifts, a Ramadan tradition in Tunisia. Everyone was extremely thankful for the spontaneous fun and laughter. Some alumni were even emotional, and promised to return to the center for extended visits.
2012-13 YES alumnus Olfa Ben Idriss commented, “I never knew how much love I could give. Nothing mattered more to me than putting a smile on their faces.”
