YES Alumni reached out to a local community to educate them on the the ways in which diseases can be avoided during the winter. The activities included drawing, coloring, skits, and charts, all of which explain the importance of cleanliness in order to avoid diseases at school and at home. They learned about ways in which hand-washing is done successfully and we reminded students that cleanliness is extremely important to one’s health. The participants were also given hygiene kits to encourage them to continuously use the items in future as well. Overall, the day focused on highlighting healthy patterns in daily life. A total of 50 children participated in the project.

We initiated the project because students in most of the schools and some rural areas don’t get time to play, as they have to give most of their time to their studies and work. We wanted this activity to encourage students to be a part of extra-curricular activities and to help them enjoy and learn something other than their schoolwork. We believe we achieved our goals and gave the necessary teachings of cleanliness to the students so they can use it in their daily routine.
