Çisem Kaço from Türkiye is the YES Student of the Month
Sayed Mohammed '22, a YES alum from Bahrain, recently secured a full scholarship to attend Drury University in Springfield, MO, the same city he was hosted in during his YES exchange year. Sayed plans to study multimedia production and journalism with a minor in computer science. He can’t wait to get back to his host community, which he says is his second home. During his exchange year, he met incredible people, especially his host family who have been there for him through thick and thin.
Sayed credits his YES experience in Springfield for introducing him to Drury and providing him with the tools, resources, skills, and confidence to pursue this opportunity in the US. The program helped him build his confidence and realize that he can achieve anything he sets his mind to. Sayed thinks the key to success is being confident and true to yourself!
Sayed also recently attended the FLEX & YES Global Leadership Forum on Disabilities in Washington, D.C. The workshop opened Sayed’s eyes to the importance of bringing people together, no matter their abilities. He learned skills for making videos accessible for both visually impaired and deaf individuals. He also made lifelong friends with people of all sorts of different abilities. The experience reinforced his commitment to making media accessible to everyone.
In addition to his academic achievements, Sayed is an active and influential TikTok creator with a following of over 30,000. He regularly posts content focusing on assistive technologies, which has garnered him a dedicated audience.
