Proposals for two alumni grant programs will be open soon.
The EducationUSA Fair 2024 provided Jordanian students with a unique opportunity to explore higher education options in the United States. Featuring information booths, specialized workshops on U.S. college admissions, scholarship opportunities, and interactive sessions on key topics such as writing personal statements and requesting recommendation letters, the event was designed to guide students through the entire application process.
This free event, held on November 16 and 17 at the Sheraton Hotel in Amman, was open over 2000 people from high school and university students, as well as parents, educators, and counsellors eager to learn about studying in the U.S. Attendees met directly with university representatives, gained valuable insights, and explored the wide range of opportunities available at U.S. higher education institutions.
The EducationUSA Fair 2024 was organized by EducationUSA, the U.S. Embassy in Jordan, and Amideast, with the support of over 65 YES alumni, who played a central role in ensuring the event's success. From managing registration and check-in to overseeing door traffic and helping direct attendees to key sessions, the alumni were instrumental in keeping the event running smoothly. They assisted with translation at university booths, helped manage crowd flow, and made sure every attendee had a productive experience.
Wearing Education SA t-shirts, the alumni moved throughout the venue, actively stepping in to help whenever needed. Their initiative and enthusiasm were evident as they went above and beyond to ensure the event was a success, often anticipating needs before being asked. Their commitment and firsthand experience in the U.S. made them the perfect ambassadors for the event, and their presence added immense value to the fair.
U.S. Ambassador Yael Lempert opened the event with her remarks. Ambassador Lempert commented, “The EducationUSA fair highlights our ongoing commitment to providing Jordanian students access to world-class institutions, cutting-edge academic programs, and unmatched higher-education opportunities in the United States. For over 75 years, the United States has remained one of the top destinations for Jordanian students. And we want students seeking dynamic learning environments and an unparalleled diversity of perspectives to choose the United States to help them achieve their educational and professional goals.”
Nour Alrasheed, Amideast/Jordan’s Country Director, emphasized the event’s pivotal role in supporting Jordanian youth. “Thanks to our partnership with the U.S. Embassy, this event will help empower the next generation of Jordanian leaders by providing life-changing educational opportunities that pave the way for academic and career success.”
Teresa Liu from Baruch College of the City University of New York said, “I am so impressed with the students I met, I hope to see some at CUNY in the near future! Big shout out to the volunteers, they made a huge difference. Thank you for an incredible 2 days.”
