YES Alumni in Liberia held a Technology Camp this year in order to celebrate the Global Youth Service Day. They welcomed YES alumni and observers across Liberia from April 24, 2013 to May 3, 2013 to discuss the topic "Social Media for Social Activism." The training program included a four day workshop with expert local trainers. Upon receiving training, YES alumni organized a three day workshop to high school students in their community.

The high school students that attended the Global Youth Service Day celebration were from twenty different schools in Liberia and represented four different counties: Montserrado, Cape Mount, Margibi, and Grand Bassa County. The workshops brought these students together as they learned about how to use social media tools such as Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr in positive ways. They learned to use them as ways to communicate with other students and communities and as a way to engage in social activism.

Liberian YES Alumni felt that this was a great way to celebrate Global Youth Service Day. According to YES Alumni liaison officer Mohammed B. Kiawu, "The intent of the workshop is for us to give back to our friends in various schools and communities what we have learned."
