Think Pink: A World Record in Bahrain!

Think Pink Cover

On September 23rd, six YES alumni participated in a one-of-a-kind event - they set a world record for helping to hold 13km of pink ribbon! The event, sponsored by Think Pink and titled "How Far For Pink" aimed to raise awareness of breast cancer as the first in a series of events for breast cancer awareness month.

As volunteer-participants, Ali Al Baharna, Batool Sayed, Fatima Al Ali, Maryam Alsaleh, and Rabab Mohsen, all from the YES 2016 - 2017 cohort, were joined by Manal al Banna (YES 2014 - 2015). They stood for two hours to ensure the 20-inch pieces of ribbon remained tied together at the Bahrain International Circuit.

These alumni volunteered through the Bahrain Breast Cancer Society, and also contributed to the event by raising awareness through social media and word of mouth in their communities. This was the first national level community initiative in Bahrain aimed at raising awareness for breast cancer and donations to the Bahrain Breast Cancer Society. And it was a big, pink success!
