Two Exchange Students Enjoy Cross-Country Experience

Salma Razak

By Tama News-Herald, The Toledo Chronicle

Each year South Tama County High School is privileged to host foreign exchange students. This year two of the three exchange students at South Tama are running for the STC Cross Country team. Aleksandra Beha and Salma Razak (YES 2016-2017, Morocco, hosted by American Councils in Toledo, IA) are seniors at STCHS.

Beha is from Montenegro in Southeast Europe and Razak is from Morocco in Africa. Both girls have experience running in the past although neither has run competitively before this year. Beha is being hosted by myself and my husband Darvin Graham while Razak is hosted by Brian, Erin and Lauren Gumm.

Beha's goal is to try a lot of new things upon her arrival in Iowa. "It seemed interesting," said Beha on why she joined the team, "I wanted to try something new, something that is a new level for me because I run back home but this is like a whole new level and seems more professional if you ask me."

"I used to do cross country five years ago and Aleks is there so I want to do activities with her," said Razak on why she joined the team.
