Please welcome YES Malaysia 2012! 40 Malaysian YES students landed in Washington DC on January 25th for a 3 day arrival orientation before traveling to meet their US host families.  The orientation was almost entirely staffed by alumni of various ECA programs from various countries: American YES Abroad and Congress-Bundestag alumni, and YES alumni from Malaysia and India.

The group included three Deaf students, who were ably led by our first deaf Group Leader, 2009 YES alumni Farhan Karmazaman, who was hosted at the Indiana School for the Deaf. Farhan has been active in the deaf alumni community in Malaysia since returning home.&nbsp;</p>

The students were warmly greeted by Ann Stock, Asst. Secretary of State for the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, and visited the Malaysian Embassy, where they were reminded of their roles as new ambassadors of Malaysia and the USA.

Current YES students hosted in the Washington DC area offered advice and tips on making the most of their time in the USA.
