The World Food Prize 2013 YES Participants

The World Food Prize is a prestigious international award recognizing the achievements of individuals who have advanced human development by improving the quality, quantity or availability of food in the world. It recognizes contributions in any field involved in the world food supply and emphasizes the importance of a sustainable food supply for all people. Laureates have been recognized from countries around the world, including Bangladesh, Brazil, China, Cuba, Denmark, Ethiopia, India, Mexico, Sierra Leone, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, the United Nations and the United States.

The World Food Prize conference is held in Des Moines, Iowa each year, and each year YES students placed by IRIS in Iowa submit an essay and the best ones are selected to attend. This year the following four students were selected: Aleyna (Turkey), Nathan (South Africa), Limi (Bangladesh), and Emmanuella (Nigeria). They attended the conference held on Thursday, October 17.
