April 25 –Forty alumni and current nominees of the Youth Exchange and Study (YES) high school exchange program spent the morning volunteering at a local orphanage in Sana'a. This community service event commemorated the 10-year anniversary of the YES program. The students, aided by Embassy staff, cleaned the campus, painted the school, and played sports and games with the orphans. Following the event, the students gathered at a local restaurant to celebrate and share their experiences with one another. Volunteerism is an important part of all the Embassy's scholarship programs, and the Embassy encourages alumni to give back to their communities upon their return to Yemen.
