The YES program is excited to announce the YES Connects virtual alumni conference! From June 21 to July 2, this virtual alumni development conference will bring YES alumni together to share knowledge, ideas, skills and expertise on content you design and deliver yourselves. This pollinator event will provide you with time, space, and resources to collaborate, make connections, share activities, generate new ideas to impact yourself and your community, and shape sessions based on your interests and expertise.
Application deadline: April 16
Are you interested in using your professional expertise or personal interests to facilitate a session for your fellow alumni? Are you interested in learning a new skill or topic? While many conferences are run by professional staff for participants, this conference will be run by YES alumni for one another. Instead of focusing on just one predetermined topic, select alumni will offer expertise on a wide variety of topics, all at the same conference.
Up to 40 alumni will be selected from all active YES countries. We expect you to be interested in trying new things! The final content will be chosen and facilitated by selected alumni. If you are chosen as a facilitator, you will be expected to spend time working together with others and/or individually to prepare your session in addition to general participation in the conference.
By the end of the conference, you will be able to:
- Identify at least two alumni partners with whom you might collaborate on an activity or project
- List at least three project ideas you might implement in your home country
- List at least three ways you can share ideas with alumni in your home country and energize your YES alumni peers after the conference
This conference is for YES alumni who are:
- Open-minded and curious
- Able to work collaboratively
Eligibility: This conference is only open to current YES alumni. Current students in the 2020-21 cohort are not eligible to apply. Finalists must be available, able and willing to participate in the full 2-week conference period, June 21-July 2, synchronously on Zoom and asynchronously in other virtual spaces.
Note: Workshop assignments and activities will begin shortly after selection, and the live events will take place from June 21-July 2.
Alumni with disabilities are encouraged to apply.
