YES Lebanon Restores Beach

In collaboration with the Operation Big Blue Association (OBBA), fourteen YES alumni participated in a campaign to clean the Ibrahim River delta beach on May 8th, 2011.

OBBA is a Lebanese non-governmental organization NGO) founded in 1997 that seeks to challenge citizens to become ecologically aware human beings.  The organization cooperates with the Ministries of Defense, Internal Forces, Public Works and Transport, Education and Higher Education, Tourism, Youth and Sports, Environment and Public Health. Each year, OBBA holds a nationwide campaign to encourage people to clean the beaches and seashores.

This year, 5000 Lebanese citizens took part in the campaign. YES alumni from around the country joined the country-wide effort by gathering in Beirut and travelling b bus to their assigned spots on the seashore. They spent a full day cleaning beaches. The campaign helped restore Lebanon's coast.
