On Tuesday April 28, the YES program hosted a webinar on “Volunteering Virtually and Staying Connected” with participation from over 50 on-program YES students as well as four YES Alumni from all over the world. The webinar was intended to provide an opportunity for YES students to connect with their peers from around the world and also to brainstorm ways that they can stay engaged with their communities in this time of self-isolation. The alumni facilitators and YES students participated in breakout rooms and discussed strategies for developing virtual community service projects, discussed possible challenges they might face in doing online volunteering projects, and also shared helpful resources with each other to make their project ideas easy to implement.
