Maram Qambar (YES 2015-2016, Bahrain, hosted by FLAG in Bluffton, IN) isn't wasting any time in launching service projects in her community. Even though she just returned from the United States a few months ago, and even though she doesn't have a large YES alumni community to help her, Maram is taking matters into her own hands.

For two days in September, Maram organized fundraising and community-building events to support a local orphanage. She also encouraged her classmates to get involved. Together, they sold milkshakes and other treats on the beach in order to raise funds and public awareness for the.

The following week, Maram took $80 donated by classmates and turned it into over $250 for the orphanage. She used the seed money to purchase goodies and sold them to classmates during a break at school.

In the short time Maram has been back in Bahrain, she has already made a big impact!
