Spreading Christmas Cheer

24085386080 76bd4a40c8

On December 21, 2015, YES alumni in Israel (Arab Communities) brought a Christmas celebration to the Al Hekma School, which is a special school for children with emotional disabilities. In order to help the students get in the Christmas spirit, alumni brought them a Christmas tree and craft supplies, which they used to teach the students how to make their own ornaments. Everyone worked together to make the ornaments and then to decorate the tree. After that, the students and alumni made Christmas sweets together and played games. Before they left, the alumni gave each student a Santa hat with his/her name written on it. The students had a wonderful time, but it was also beneficial for the alumni, who felt that they learned a lot about children with disabilities from this volunteer experience. Everyone was happy that the day helped them get in the true Christmas spirit.
