Maura Pally, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Professional and Cultural Exchanges with the U.S. Department of State, visited the 2010 YES alumni at the American Cultural Center in Dakar last Fall. The alumni gave presentations on their experiences in the U.S., and discussed their new roles as alumni to the program. After their presentations, Ms. Pally presented the YES 2010 Diplomas, while YES alumna Fatou Cisse received a special award for her vision and initiative while organizing and implementing new alumni projects.  

In other news, alumni and students from the Emerging Youth Leaders program visited the Elementary School of Wayambame in the village of Wayambame. They volunteered their time by planting trees in the school’s garden, and helped with additional landscaping.
