YES alumni in Israel have been extremely active serving as young mentors to children in Israeli schools. Each alumni member is responsible for at least one child, offering tutoring services (especially in the English language) or spending quality time with children who come from broken homes. Other alumni have focused their efforts in the classroom, volunteering as teaching assistants to help teachers prepare for different social and academic activities. YES alumni spend about 3-4 hours a week with each child, meeting them in their own homes or in the home of the alumni. Other group meetings take place at school. The alumni see this type of community service as a true testament to the work of a global ambassador. The alumni have served, and will continue to serve, as role models for future global leaders.
