YES Sierra Leone Alumni celebrate Global Youth Service day by visiting children and mothers at Kroo Town Bay, Sierra Leone on 25th April 2013. This is a devastated area where hundreds of poor parents and their vulnerable children live in informal houses with no water supply or toilets. The only toilet that can be found in this place is a public toilet where people must pay to use it. Most families cannot afford to pay to use the toilet so they use open spaces.

This was a major health concern of the YES Alumni of Sierra Leone feel sorry for these people but much more for their vulnerable children who see this situation to be normal. They organized a project to visit 50 homes in this community to distribute portable toilets and to educate mothers on the health risks for their children.

Clothes were also distributed to children to help protect them from upcoming rain storms.
