Over 150 people at Old Rochester High School shared Palestinian food thanks to YES AFS student Nassim Rizik from Israel. Nassim presented about the YES Program, Palestinian culture, Arabs in Israel and his hometown of Nazareth. Nassim wrote, "Practice makes perfect! I am so glad that today was easier for me to represent. I already knew the students' interests and questions. The best part was when some of them told me: we should probably go to Israel for vacation. It's unfortunate that all they hear about us is war and blood. Everyday I understand more and more the importance of the YES program in general and the international education week specifically. I see how increasing the awarness to this new generation of students concerning different countries and cultures is so effective and has a lot of benefits!" Nassim was able to complete his IEW initiative with the support of local AFS volunteer Carole McCorry.

Nour ElHouda Hassari of Morocco, hosted by AFS in Vermont, shares her reflections on the IEW experience at Randolph Union High School. Nour says, "Since it's IEW, I decided to prepare some Moroccan food for the French Class, such as Moroccan Tea and stuffed flat-bread, and make a presentation about my home-country and culture.

During the day, I served Moroccan tea for my other friends and teachers. I also made henna tattoos on my friends' hands. I feel so special among people who are willing to ask and learn about my culture and share theirs with me. Also, It is always wonderful to share my experiences!"
