There was much joy and anticipation as Lintang, 2012-13 Youth Exchange and Study scholar from Indonesia, arrived in her host community of Kansasville, WI to begin her year as a YES ambassador. In the days after Lintang’s arrival, her life as she knew it, as well as her newly-adopted host community, would be forever changed.

Lintang, who uses a wheelchair, is seeing what a small community is all about. The outreach efforts made by Lintang’s host mother, Bert, and the surrounding community have helped Lintang to explore new paths and opportunities. Recently, Lintang and her host mom participated in the Super Saturday 5K race in the nearby town of Union Grove.
