YES, Today and Tomorrow

On July 15, 72 YES alumni and 10 ALEX alumni came together at the Livinc Creative Space in AlSalt, Jordan to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the YES program. The event kicked off with a registration and mingling session, where the alumni caught up with each other and networked.

Once everyone had arrived, Stephanie Altman-Winans, Counselor of Public Affairs at the U.S. Embassy, gave a warm and inspiring speech. She shared how the alumni had taken a leap of faith to participate in the YES program, and achieved even more than they could have expected. Then, Nour Alrasheed, the Amideast/Jordan Country Director, delivered a speech highlighting the impact of YES alumni on their communities. After the speeches, a video was played which showcased alumni discussing how the YES program impacted them and changed their lives.

The event consisted of activities around self-discovery, scheduling, time management, and goal setting. They also discussed how to find a balance between work, finances, mental health, spirituality, socialization, and physical health. The event finished with a training on creative entrepreneurship, communication, and presentation skills. The alumni also learned best practices for pitching and delivered one minute elevator pitches.

The alumni enjoyed connecting with each other and reflecting on the impact the YES program had on them. We are excited to see what comes next for the YES community in Jordan!
